The Hancock Resource Center’s first mission when it opened in 2008 was to assist with the county’s housing needs caused by Hurricane Katrina. A decade later, that mission is still ongoing. “It’s a constant reminder of how important it is for everyone to have a safe home,” HRC Construction Coordinator Jane Stock said. “Having experienced it, it gives us a special insight of what our clients are going through.” Stock grew up in Slidell and attended college at the University California State Hayward. In 1999, she landed in Bay St. Louis and has lived and worked her ever since. In 2009, she joined HRC, and a decade later, she now oversees several programs, which includes the Home Rehab Program which provides financial and case management services for eligible homeowners and fosters affordable home ownership, help repair or replace damaged homes. Stock also works with partner agencies on the Energywise program and she provides construction coordination and case management services. “I am blessed to be in this position for our residents,” Stock said. “I tell my clients all the time that I am the lucky one. In fact, they are not even clients, they are friends.” Stock lives in Bay St. Louis with her husband. She has two children and enjoys the outdoors, reading, and cooking.
