2015 Annual Report
Hancock Resource Center served 1,323 families in 2015 with a total economic impact of $4,660,387 in the community. Over 2,064 hours of volunteer labor were coordinated through HRC in 2015, amounting to $40,269 in donated labor benefiting residents of Hancock County.
 
  • Hancock Resource Center provided construction management, volunteer coordination, and/or nonprofit funding to rehabilitate 57 homes in 2015, accomplished through partnerships with more than 8 other organizations, with a total economic impact of $452,000 for our county.
  • Foreclosure prevention counseling was provided for 115 families throughout the state through MS Foreclosure Prevention Collaborative and Homesaver programs; 34 home foreclosures were prevented through this counseling, 12 of which were homes in Hancock County. The value of the preserved homes is $3,978,000 statewide with an impact in Hancock County of $1,492,272.
  • Through partnerships with Federal Home Loan Bank, The First, ANBA, and Gulf Coast Renaissance Corporation, HRC provided home rehab and accessibility features for 43 low-income, elderly and/or disabled homeowners, with an economic impact of $240,353.
  • HRC provided Homebuyer’s Education, Home Maintenance Education, Budget Counseling, Credit Counseling, Basic Computer, Resume Writing and Basic Employment Skills classes to 204 residents in Hancock County, affording them the opportunity to improve their financial standing.
  • The Transitional Housing Program for women affected by domestic violence assisted 9 families with relocation/rental assistance, employment training, and transportation and childcare assistance, allowing them to move toward self-sufficiency. This program totaled $23,420 in services to Hancock County women.
  • Through the Emergency Solutions Grant from the State of Mississippi HRC was able to provide housing stabilization services (rental assistance, deposit assistance, and supportive services) to 47 homeless and at risk residents of Hancock County, with direct services totaling $77,829.
  • HRC assisted 12 families through the Emergency Food and Shelter Program by providing $6,438 in essential, emergency housing stabilization services.
  • The Supportive Services for Veteran Families program allowed HRC to provide housing stabilization and supportive services to 58 Veterans and their families totaling $57,424 in services.
  • HRC’s newest program through the Department of Labor, the Homeless Veteran Reintegration Program, provided critical employment services to 24 homeless Veterans in Hancock, Harrison, and Pearl River Counties.
  • In partnership with Hope Haven, HRC provided coordination of The Salvation Army Angel Tree® and Toys for Tots® programs, serving 248 children in 117 families, with an economic impact of $22,964.
  • Twenty-two students graduated from the third high school class of the Hancock Youth Leadership Academy, a year-long program that promotes the development of character, courage, and service through civic commitment.
  • Twenty-two Hancock County eighth graders graduated from the fourth junior high class of the Hancock Youth Leadership Academy in 2015.
  • HRC employs 12 people; 10 live in Hancock County.
