Classes offered:
First-Time Homebuyers
We assist the homebuyer through the entire process, from potential down payment assistance to the best type of loan, including how to hire a home inspector and the “must do’s” of a home inspection, as well as how to budget to maintain your new home.

Credit Counseling
Good credit is needed for just about everything; from buying or leasing a home to educational loans to landing that new job. Work with counselors to create an action plan to rebuild any negative credit report and increase your credit score.

Household Budget
Certified counselors can help you manage your income and expenses so that you stay out of debt and build your savings.

Maintain Your Home Learn how to inspect your home, make necessary repairs, and prepare for the ongoing cost of homeownership. A properly maintained home is safer and requires fewer repairs, saving you tons of money in the long run. Other topics include how to prevent foreclosure and how to be a good neighbor for a more enjoyable homeownership experience and sense of community.

Programs:
Rental Assistance with Case Management
Having trouble paying utilities or rent? We can help eligible families with an array of services, including financial assistance, budget counseling, advocacy services, referrals to needed services, and housing search assistance to help you get back on your feet as soon as possible.

Mortgage Delinquency & Foreclosure
Facing foreclosure can be a scary process. As soon as you know you are unable to make your mortgage payments, seek help. We work with you and your lenders to work out a solution that will help you keep your home and get you back on track.

Transitional Housing for Domestic Violence Survivors
Victims of domestic violence can get help with a temporary safe haven, childcare, and transportation assistance, while housing counselors help you find and maintain long-term housing.

Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF)
Very low-income eligible Veteran families who are in or transitioning to permanent housing can receive a host of supportive services, including temporary financial assistance, to promote housing stability on a sustainable basis.

Homeless Veterans' Reintegration Program (HVRP)
Homeless Veterans receive assistance in reintegrating into the labor force by providing job placement services, training, job development, career counseling, resume preparation as well as providing critical linkages to supportive services in the community to retain that employment.

Navigator Program
If your children have been placed in state custody and you are in need of supportive services to complete service aggreements and understand court processes, HRC navigators can assist in your efforts to reunify you and your children in a timely manner.

Homelessness Solutions
We believe that all Hancock residents should have a roof over their heads. If you are homeless or about to become homeless, we may be able to provide short-term rental assistance and other supportive services to help you find a safe and stable home again.
