Does your home need to be more Energywise?

7/12/2017

Energywise is a special program geared toward helping low-income Mississippi Power customers reduce their energy cost by providing free weatherization improvements for homes that do not meet current energy efficiency standards. Examples of improvements include weather stripping, insulation and other selected repairs and upgrades that can lower power bills and keep your home more comfortable year-round.

How to Qualify?
To qualify for the Energywise program, you must meet the following criteria: be a Mississippi Power customer, own the house to be weatherized, must be your primary residence and have a total household income at or below amounts listed in chart.

Gross Household income limits by household size:
1-$23,450
2-$31,860
3-$40,180
4-$48,500
5-$56,820
*Add $8,320 for each additional household member

In addition to the above criteria, a household member must demonstrate at least one of the following conditions: be 65 years or older in age, receive public or private disability payments, have children in primary or secondary schools or younger and be in in a home with a high energy burden.

Hancock Resource Center has completed 10 homes in Hancock County with the Energywise Program. Hancock Resource Center is currently taking applications. Energywise program is funded by Mississippi Power, for Mississippi Power customers in collaboration with the Gulf   Coast Community Foundation.
