FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
2020 Hancock Military Heroes Banner Program March 26th, 2020 The Hancock Resource Center has partnered once more with the Diamondhead VFW Post 280 (Veterans of Foreign Wars), Bay St. Louis American Legion Auxiliary Unit 139, and Bourgeois-Stieffel-Ray American Legion Post 77 to honor local Veterans through the 2020 Hancock Military Heroes Banner Program. In 2018 the Hancock County Board of Supervisors partnered with its local veteran non-profit organizations to create the Hancock Military Heroes Banner Program Fundraiser. The program is a tribute created for the community to recognize and honor those who are currently serving, Veterans, or those who gave their lives for our country in the United States Armed Forces. The banners are hung twice in a calendar year. They will be publicly displayed in the downtown areas of Bay St. Louis, Diamondhead, & Waveland for Memorial Day and the 4th of July (May 22 to July 6, 2020), as well as a Veterans’ Day display period from October 1, 2020 through Veteran’s Day (November 11, 2020). The 2020 program is underway, and accepting both renewals and new applications! If community members have previously purchased a banner they may renew its display for $75.00 (additional service fees may be necessary based on individual circumstances). All renewals are due by May 20, 2020! If this is a participant’s first year joining the program, all application and fees are due by May 1, 2020. The application must be filled out in its entirety and returned to a program coordinator, along with the $150.00 fee. The process can be completed online or at one of the participating locations. The Hancock Military Heroes Banner Program is a heartfelt way to honor the Veteran in our lives as friends, family members, mentors, coworkers, etc. and there have been dozens of wonderful tributes over the past few years!
