For Immediate Release
C&R’S CRAWFISH COOKOFF IS MAY 1ST!
April 8th, 2021

C&R’s Annual Crawfish Cookoff is back! 2021 is  off to a great start and the Hancock County community is ready to come together and celebrate all of the festivities spring has to offer in South Mississippi – including crawfish season!

May 1st, 2021 marks the 13th Cookoff hosted by C&R’s Bar and Grill and held on Coleman Avenue in Waveland. This year’s beneficiary is the Hancock Resource Center (HRC), a 501c3 organization that works to stabilize families and strengthen the community. HRC’s mission is accomplished by addressing obstacles and barriers to housing and coordinating services for families in need. HRC is proud to partner with C&R’s Bar and Grill in organizing the details and enjoying the fun on the day of the event.

Twenty teams will compete for the Best Crawfish, with trophies awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. Cash prizes are also awarded to the top teams, with 1st place earning $500 and 2nd place taking home $250. Special prizes are given to the teams who win the People’s Choice Award and the Most Unique, Edible Lagniappe Item Award. Judging starts at 1:00 p.m. sharp.

Team registrations are still available. There is a $150 registration fee, with four members allowed per team, and a mandatory team meeting on Wednesday, April 28th, 2021 where tent placements are drawn. Each team is provided with 150lbs of crawfish and paper materials to serve their spread to the public. Teams are responsible for their own tents, burners, propane, cooking utensils, and all seasonings and lagniappe items, with at least 48 half ears of corn and 10lbs of small potatoes to be included in the boil. Any extra fixings are welcomed and encouraged!

The 13th Crawfish Cookoff begins at 10:00 a.m. and lasts until 4:00 p.m., or when the crawfish runs out. It will be an awesome event with amazing food, live music by The Kelsey Moran Band, and fun for family and friends. Tickets are $25 for adults (13 & over), $10 for children (10-12), while children 9 and under are free.
