For Immediate Release
First Annual Adulting Day Launches on March 5, 2020 February 19, 2020 The Hancock Resource Center, in partnership with the Hancock Chamber Education Committee is thrilled to launch Adulting Day for high school seniors in Hancock County on Thursday, March 5, 2020. Students from Bay Waveland School District, the Hancock County School District, Our Lady Academy, and Saint Stanislaus College are invited to the inaugural day-long event. The purpose of Adulting Day is to provide students with practical knowledge and skills to confidently step into adulthood upon graduation. Examples of topics include “How to Change a Tire”, “Understanding Insurance”, “Basic First Aid”, grocery shopping and cooking basics, interview skills and application tips, budgeting and credit, renting 101, an overview of taxes, and more. All of the things we wish we’d known about sooner! Students will sign up online to attend sessions in a conference-style system, either a 45-minute in-depth introduction or a 20-minute overview of the essentials. They will then receive a customized itinerary of their Adulting Day experience upon arrival, based on selections made in advance. The sessions will be led by speakers who have volunteered to share their knowledge and expertise on the outlined topics- local leaders who are committed to investing in Hancock County’s future and supporting our youth in their transition to adulthood. HRC and the Chamber are encouraging the community to get involved and ensure that Adulting Day is an amazing experience for all participating students and provides the ultimate introduction to knowledge they will use for the rest of their lives. To sponsor the event, reserve an information booth, or donate items for student “Swag Bags”, call 228-463-8887 or email Victoria Mathias ([email protected]) and Colby DiMento ([email protected]). ### Comments are closed.
