Hancock Resource Center Awarded Homeless Veterans’ Reintegration Program Grant
 
Hancock Resource Center (HRC) has been awarded a $239,593 Homeless Veterans’ Reintegration Program grant (HVRP) from the United States Department of Labor. The HVRP program awarded to Hancock Resource Center serves the lower 6 counties including Pearl River, Hancock, Harrison, Jackson, Stone and George. To qualify for the program, one must be a Veteran who meets the following eligibility requirements: has served in the active military, naval or air service and has a discharge status that is not dishonorable, is homeless or at imminent risk of homelessness and needs training and a job or a better job.


United States Department of Labor’s goal of the HVRP grant program is to provide services, assist in reintegrating homeless Veterans into meaningful employment within the labor force and to stimulate the development of effective service delivery systems that will address the complex problems facing homeless Veterans. These goals are accomplished through case management, job driven training, placement and collaboration with public and private partners to provide supportive services and access to housing.  This is Hancock Resource Center’s second HVRP grant award. HRC was previously awarded for 3 years beginning in 2015. In 2017, Hancock Resource Center had an 81% placement rate, an average hourly rate at placement of $11.64 and a 72% placement rate for chronically homeless Veterans.
 
Hancock Resource Center coordinates efforts with other federal grant programs including the Veterans Affairs Supportive Services for Veteran Families program and the Department of Housing and Urban Development Continuum of Care program.
