September 26, 2018 Hancock Youth Leadership Academy High School Program releases 2019 applications Applications for the 2019 Hancock Youth Leadership Academy (HYLA), an initiative of the Hancock Resource Center, will be available to interested high school juniors who show leadership potential beginning on October 1, 2018. Hancock Youth Leadership Academy teaches leadership according to the tenets of Courage, Character and Service. The HYLA high school program is based on building college readiness, appreciation of community assets, and developing leadership potential. This program targets eleventh grade students from all Hancock County schools (as well as their home-schooled equivalents) who are able to balance academics and multiple activities while prioritizing this program; is interested in learning more about the community and will benefit from leadership skills training. The cost of the program is $250; applicants may request scholarships through the school that they attend. Applications will be available beginning October 1st through the schools, at Hancock Resource Center, and on the Hancock Resource Center website, www.hancockhrc.org. HYLA staff will hold a workshop for interested high school applicants on Wednesday, October 03, 2018 at 7:00 pm at the Hancock Resource Center office, located at 454 Highway 90, Suite B in Waveland (next to PRCC). This workshop will cover in detail the application and interview process as well as expectations for personal statement submission. The deadline for submission of applications is Tuesday, October 23, 2018 by 4:00 p.m. Applicants must attend an interview on November 6, 2018.
