For Immediate Release: Salvation Army Angel Tree registration begins October 17th Registration for the 2018 Salvation Army Angel Tree Christmas Assistance Ministry Program will take place from October 17-18 and October 23-25 during the hours of 9-11:30 a.m. and 1-4 p.m. at Hancock Resource Center offices, located at 454 Highway 90, Suite B. in Waveland (next to PRCC). Families with children from live birth to 12 years of age (at the time of registration) are eligible for the Christmas gift program. A parent or legal guardian must apply for their own children (documentation is required if not listed on birth certificate) and the person applying must bring a valid photo identification card and proof of Hancock County residency. State-issued, certified birth certificates for all children are required at time of registration. Applicant must bring documented proof of income and expenses. The following is a list of proof of expense that is required at the time of application for everyone in the household: Income • Employment (all members of household) • WIN Job center registration verification form • TANF Award Letter • Utility Allowance • SNAP Award Letter • Disability Award Letter • Social Security Award Letter • Pension • Insurance • Child Support or DHS statement of non-support • SSI Award Letter • School Grants/Loans • Other Income • Section 8 Paperwork • Must present notarized statement of any income help from anyone else Expenses • Rent/Mortgage • Utilities • Credit Cards • Gas Receipts • Water/Sewage • Grocery Receipts • Car Notes • Medical Bills Paying on • Cable (basic cable only) • Phone Bill (landline or cell) • Rental furniture payments • Loans & other bills • Bank statement (if applicable) *Current bills (1 month) only Proof means you must bring all items needed at the time of application. If you do not have the items at the time of registration, you will not be able to register until you have all of the items. Interested families should call HRC to make an appointment; walk-ins will be assisted based on availability. Families who received assistance through the 2017 program should attend one of HRC’s education classes before their angels go out for adoption; applicants will receive the class schedule and be able to choose a class and time that is most appropriate to their needs.
